Edible bird's nest is made purely of swiftlet's saliva. They're normally found in caves near shoreline cliffs or under eaves of houses and are harvested by hand. Feathers and dirt are then removed from the nest before they are sold to the markets.
Bird nests are differentiated into two major types, namely house bird nest and cave bird nest. House swiftlet build its nest on the man-made beam in a bird house and this type of bird nest can be harvested easily. Normally the farmers do not disturb the bird nest which is still in use by the swiftlet. When the swiflets grow up and fly away, the farmers will harvest it. Hence, there is no disturbance on the swiftlets' reproduction.
Cave swiftlet build its nest in the cave and because of the condition of how the nests are built, harvesting from such conditions poses extreme dangers to the harvesters. As compared to house nest, cave nest contained more impurities under the given conditions.
As studies shown, there is no added nutrients or naturalness when comparing both type of nests. The only difference is merchants over claiming that cave nests are more natural, while the harvesting process is much more dangerous and less frequent, thus equating out to a higher valuation.

Our Soaking Process:
Upon soaking, the size of both would definitely be different, as this is due to layering of the nest's structure, therefore resulting in the difference.
